I'm smiling because I love what I do. Every day, I get to create experiences that increase access to information and technology. Sometimes the work I do, in its own very small way, helps to create a more just and inclusive world with greater access to education.
I started my career in digital 9 years ago as a Content Coordinator at The Movember Foundation. There, I was exposed to an incredible group of people doing amazing things for digital, and for the world. I’ve taken that passion for advancing my craft while doing good with me throughout my entire career, from content into UX and beyond.
I’m happily employed as User Experience Lead at Tundra right now, but I love to take on small freelance projects in UX, UI design, content or even development of small static websites like this one. So if you have a problem that needs solving, visit my side-hustle Art + Commerce, or contact me directly. Let's have a chat.
I've facilitated workshops with senior leaders at some of Australia's largest and most well-known companies. No problem is too big or too small that we can't work it out in a room together with a tub full of post-it notes, thinking games and catered sandwiches.
Uncovering the right problems to solve is a critical skill, and mastering the tools and techniques available to uncover those problems is something I've spent years on. From qualitative ethnographic fieldwork, usability testing and interviews — to quantitative analytics, a/b testing and surveys — I can help to achieve clarity and find light in the dark.
Creating empathy for your audience and carefully shaping their foundational experience is a critical step in the design process. By taking the deep understanding gained from research and creating these powerful artefacts, I can help illuminate the unknowns about your audience and shape their ideal experience.
Creating interfaces that your users will not only comprehend but love is my core specialty. There are a near endless range of patterns and possibilities, and I get a kick out of exploring as many as I can to land on a solution that meets your users needs and gives them an experience they'll want to come back for.
Originally coming from a content strategy and copywriting background means I take a truly content-first approach to all of my work. The interface means very little if it delivers nothing of value to the user.
Making sense of mess to create simple and intuitive journeys through the content and functionality of your app or website is where I really get to geek out. There's nothing cooler than a thousand row spreadsheet to lay the foundations of your future product.
I'm able to take a concept from words to sketches to wireframes and high-fidelity UI concepts, while working within (or extending) your existing brand style with confidence.
A collection of things I’ve created while practicing my craft and learning new skills outside my 9 to 5.
I design and develop small static websites under the side-hustle pseudonym of Art and Commerce.

If you need a digital problem solved, if you need to know more about your users, if you need a fresh new design for your website, if you need a small site built quickly, if you need content that achieves your goals, or if you need a dog-sitter for the weekend, then:
Clarity trumps consistency. - Steve Krug :) Good design, when done well, should be invisible. - Jared Spool :) No matter how cool your interface, it would be better if there were less of it. - Alan Cooper :) To design an easy-to-use interface, pay attention to what users do, not what they say. - Jakob Nielsen :) Design is about 3 dimensions & the 5 senses. - Danielle Sacks :) If there is a 'trick' to it, the UI is wrong. - Douglas Anderson :) One should aim not at being possible to understand, but at being impossible to misunderstand. - Quintilian :) Good UX is good business. - Andrew Kucheriavy :) What's dangerous is when designers use a language that people don't understand. - Paula Scher :) You can find more problems in half a day than you can fix in a month. - Steve Krug :) One accurate measurement is worth more than a thousand expert opinions. - Grace Hopper :) As far as the customer is concerned, the interface is the product. - Jeff Raskin :) Usability testing is the killing field of cherished notions. - David Orr :) Our websites are fluid, so our processes & workflows need to match - Brad Frost :) Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning. - Bill Gates :) Supposing is good, but finding out is better. - Mark Twain :)
